It also covers adjacent topics such as open data, open government, data journalism, big data, and data science.</p> <p>As Ben Fry wrote in <em>Visualizing Data</em>, the field spans statistics, data mining, graphic design, information visualization, information design, coding, and the web. This site takes an incremental approach: each topic is narrowed down into a small unit, and those units are accumulated over time.</p> <p>To move people through data visualization, readers need to feel that the subject connects to them.
